The watery or almost "mushy" appearance of pods rotted by Pythium
myriothylum is directly opposite to the dry-appearing rot that is
characteristic of Rhizoctonia pod rot. Both immature and mature pods may become
infected and rot in a period of two to four days. The presence of decaying rye
tissues and/or potash in the zone of pod development may increase the incidence
and severity of Pythium pod rot.
