Steve Toth, Entomology Extension Specialist, North Carolina State University, developed the Southern Region Pesticide Safety Education Center (SR PSEC) resource web site located at http://ipm.ncsu.edu/srpsec/. The site is organized according to the Core Manual and is comprised of links to various sites that provide fact sheets and other documentation. During the workshop, Steve introduces the site and demonstrates how to navigate it.

 
Meg Scott Phipps, Commissioner of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, is a supporter of this train-the-trainer concept. She or assistant commissioner David Smith has been at each workshop to show support and welcome the participants to North Carolina.

 

 


Jeanne Heying, Environmental Protection Specialist with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Monte Johnson, National Program Leader, Pesticide Applicator Training and Environmental Toxicology, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cooperative State Research Education Extension Service (CSREES), offered welcoming comments and support from the EPA and the USDA respectively

 
Dr. Barry Brennan of the University of Hawaii, is the "father of the Pesticide Safety Education Center (PSEC)". Barry was instrumental in helping develop the PSEC concept from its infancy. He offers a synopsis of how this program evolved into what it is today and his thoughts about what it might become in the future.
