PESTICIDE SCHOOLS SPRING 2012

DIRECTIONS: To register for a school, check ONE (license) training under desired location and mail the completed form with the registration fee of $30.00 to the address on the form. You may take as many exams as you’d like on the second day of the school, but you may only take one class. If you need to order manuals, that will be an additional cost. Complete the manual order form and mail it along with the school registration form; you may use one check. We are unable to accept purchase orders, online, phone or credit card payments; please make check or money order payable to N.C. State University. Only the classes listed will be given on that date. Also, some listed classes may not be taught if less than 5 registrants enroll. If the class you choose will not be taught, or if it is full at the time we receive your registration, we will contact you.

Schools start at 8:30 a.m. and are over by 4:00 p.m. All exams are given at each school on the second day at 1:00 p.m. **Exam fees do apply. Exam fees will be paid at the pesticide school or exam location.** Direct questions about exams or exam fees to NCDA&CS at (919) 733-3556.

You must be a Registered Technician BEFORE applying for the Structural Pest Control Certification.

When you receive your manuals, mail the form in your Structural Manual to NCDA&CS at least 10 days prior to the test date. Direct questions about Structural Pest Control regulations to Victor Lennon at NCDA&CS,

PRIVATE APPLICATORS (FARMERS) will only benefit from the first day of class. You will need to return the second day at 1:00 p.m. for the test. The class registration fee for private applicators is $15.00. The manuals for private applicators are “Applying Pesticides Correctly” and chapters 4 & 5 of the Private Applicator Workbook. Both manuals can be ordered from the order form, or the Private Applicator Workbook can be printed from the web site http://ipm.ncsu.edu/pesticidesafety/.

Special Accommodations: Please contact the Pesticide Education Program before you register for any of these workshops if you require any special accommodations. All meetings are held in handicapped accessible facilities.

CLASSES START BOTH DAYS AT 8:30 A.M.

GREENSBORO, NC – January 9-10 - Guilford County Agricultural Center, 3309 Burlington Road.

From the south on I-85 or west on I-40 - From I-85-South, take the I-85 BUSINESS North exit. Merge with I-40 East. Take the US-220 N/US- 29 N/US-70 E Exit (Exit 223) and go 1.7 miles to the Market St. exit. Turn left onto Market St. East and go 1/6 miles to the Agricultural Center on your left.

WILMINGTON, NC – February 1-2 - New Hanover County Extension Office - 6206 Oleander Dr.

From Hwy. 40 take a left onto Eastwood headed towards Wrightsville Beach. Turn right onto Oleander/Military Cutoff, the office is about a mile on the left, adjacent to the Arboretum.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – February 21-22 - Forsyth County Agricultural Bldg, 1450 Fairchild Rd.

From 52 North, take the NORTH Liberty Street/Airport Exit 111B. At the first stoplight, turn right onto Fairchild Road. Go 0.3 mile and turn right into the Forsyth County Agricultural Building parking lot. From 52 South, take the 25th/28th Street exit 111A. At the stop sign, turn right onto North Liberty Street. At the 2nd stoplight turn right onto Fairchild Road. Go 0.3 mile and turn right into the Forsyth County Agricultural Building parking lot.

NEWTON – March 6-7 - Agricultural Resources Center, 1175 S. Brady Ave.

From Interstate 40 east of Hickory take the exit for Rock Barn Road. Take U.S. 70 to U.S. 321 S. Take U.S. 321 S. to Newton. Pass the intersection of U.S. 321 and Hwy. 10 and continue one mile. Turn left at “O” Street at the sign that says Agricultural Resources Center.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – March 27-28 – Cumberland County Center, 301 E. Mountain Dr.

401 South from Raleigh: Travel US 401 South to downtown Fayetteville, make a half circle around the Market House to Gillespie Street, and continue on Gillespie St. to US 301 S. Pass the Cumberland County Civic Center and turn left (East Mountain Dr.) at the next stoplight. The Cumberland County Extension Center is located on the left. I-40 from Raleigh: Travel I-40 E. to I-95 and continue on I-95 S. to Exit 46B (NC 87 N.). From NC 87, exit right onto Exit 100. Turn left onto East Mountain Dr. The Cumberland County Extension Center is located on the right.

PLYMOUTH, NC – April 4-5 - The Vernon James Center, 207 Research Station Rd.

The Center is located five miles east of Plymouth just off highway 64.

MONROE, NC – April 17-18 – Union County Extension Center, 3230 Presson Rd.

FROM CHARLOTTE: Take Highway 74 East through Monroe. After you pass Carolinas Medical Center-Union you will see Hilltop Restaurant on your right – continue on Highway 74 East towards Wingate. Go 2.7 miles past Hilltop Restaurant – start looking for Brooks Sales (a tractor dealership) on your right. Turn into their driveway – this will be Presson Road., the Ag Center will be the white metal building on the right.

MILLS RIVER, NC – May 22-23 - Mountain Horticultural Crops Res. & Ext. Center, 455 Research Dr.

From Interstate 26, take exit #40 (old exit #9) (Asheville Regional Airport Exit). At the end of the exit ramp turn toward the airport onto NC Hwy 280. Go past the airport. The road will bear right. Turn right on the first road after the airport: Old Fanning Bridge Rd. Cross the French Broad River and the MHCR&EC office building is at the top of the hill on the right.

DALLAS, NC - June 6-7 - Gaston County Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy.

From the Hickory and Northwest: I-40 to 321 S to Dallas/Hwy279/Hwy275 exit (first non-numbered exit). West toward Cherryville 1/2 mi., then left onto Leisure Lane. From Charlotte and East: I-85 to exit 17 Hwy. 321 North toward Lincolnton. Take Hwy 279 WEST (there are 2 exits, one East to Dallas, the second West to Cherryville) for 3/4 mi, then left on Leisure Lane.

JACKSONVILLE, NC – June 26-27 – Onslow County Center, 4024 Richlands Hwy.

From I-40 E., take Exit 364 toward NC-24-BR/Warsaw/NC-50. Make a slight right onto Kenansville Hwy./NC-24/NC-50, continue to follow NC-24/NC-50. Make a left at S. Main St./NC-11/NC-24/NC-50, continue to follow S. Main St./NC-11/NC-24. Make a slight right on Routledge Rd./NC-24, continue to follow NC-24 E. The Onslow County Center will be on the left.

STATESVILLE, NC – July 10-11 - 444 Bristol Dr.

From I-40 take exit 148 and travel east on US 64 & 90 to second traffic signal light. Right on Bristol Dr. Go .3 miles to building on right. From I-77 - take Exit 49-A travel west on Garner Bagnal Blvd. 4.3 miles to traffic signal light and left on Bristol Dr. Go .3 miles to building on right. From Downtown Statesville - take Front St. West to intersection with Garner Bagnal Blvd., continue across Garner Bagnal Blvd. onto Bristol Drive approximately .3 mile to building on right.
