Pepper spot
(Leptosphaerulina crassiaca)
Pepper spot occurs only on leaves and appears as dark-brown to black spots,
usually less than 1/16-inch in diameter. The spots are usually well
scattered over the leaflet. Numerous lesions of this type are necessary to
cause noticeable leaf damage. Pepper spot is most common during the later part
of the growing season. Leaf damage is generally negligible because the causal
fungus is a weak parasite of peanuts.
