Sweetpotato Pest Alert Tapes for 2004

For the fourth year, two toll free telephone numbers will be available for the exchange of information with field workers on the sweetpotato crop, insect traps, pest observations, new chemical registrations, scouting school dates, field tours, field days, etc. The toll free telephone number for contributing information is 877-360-8438. Call this telephone number before Thursday and after the announcement give your name, location, date, and observations. Call 877-360-8440 after Thursday afternoon to receive information on insect traps, information on field observations regarding the sweetpotato crop and pests, and any information you wish to share with growers, county Extension agents, specialists, etc.

There will probably be two scouting schools held in late June (Wilson County and Johnston and Sampson counties).

Sweetpotato growers continue to desire a telephone alert system over electronic mail and newsletters, as they can call from a cell phone at any time. They also continue to support scouting schools. Please spread the word that these telephones are operating and share the numbers with growers, county Extension agents and others. Your contributions are welcomed.
